‘I believe that simplicity of design results in efficient, low maintenance and ultimately lower whole-of-life plant outcomes for the client.’

With over 30 years of engineering experience, Ivano has worked across a diverse and complex range of projects, from aircraft maintenance hangars, terminal buildings, and airport thermal infrastructure to laboratories, TV and radio stations to commercial buildings.

He is passionate about delivering “excellence in design” and transferring his knowledge, approach and experience to the younger engineers and designers within the building services industry so that good design and consulting practice is passed on and retained.

Some of Ivano’s careers highlights have been working on the mechanical services design for the then-new Australian Archives Building located at East Burwood, Victoria and working for over 10 years on various Building Services Projects at Melbourne Airport, including the new terminal Services Building TSB2 and the Qantas Domestic extension.

A recent project of note is the thermal infrastructure plant upgrade at Deakin University Waurn Ponds Campus. To improve operational diversity, operating efficiency, and better availability, the various individual heating and cooling plant systems were consolidated into a centralised system. Ivano has also been working with various Government clients to review and advise on reducing the risk of airborne COVID transmission measures via building ventilation provisions.

Ivano’s specialist skills include the design of aircraft maintenance plant and systems, the design of high-temperature hot water heating systems, the design of central thermal plants and the design of reticulated site thermal distribution systems.
