Formerly a petrol station, The Rathbone is a new residential development in Sydney’s Surry Hills that provides a new level of convenience and contemporary luxury living for its residents.
Designed by SJB Interiors and Scott Carver, the development exemplifies high-end design expertise and artistic, modern style.
The task of transforming a derelict service station into a six-story luxury retail/residential building presented significant spatial challenges due to the site’s long and narrow shape. However, ADP’s methodical and collaborative design approach successfully integrated communal spaces on the ground floor and rooftop, along with two-story luxury apartments.
This development pays homage to the area’s 19th-century origins and iconic terrace housing, aiming to revitalize Surry Hills and create a vibrant community. Emphasizing environmental responsibility, The Rathbone has earned a six ‘Leaf’ EnviroDevelopment certification from the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA), a national environmental accreditation.
