The Melbourne Central Bridge Link refurbishment was undertaken to transform the existing dual-level bridge link that connects Melbourne Central to the Emporium, into a more modern and functional space for patrons. With high-quality finishes and uniquely different themes on each level, this project was successfully delivered with minimal impact to pedestrians and retailers through carefully managed programmed staging.

ADP was engaged to realise the architectural vision, and specialist lighting concept – to a defined budget. Through our close partnership with the builder and lighting manufacturer, our practical approach to special lighting, enabled the concept to be implemented within the projects cost constraints.

The Emporium mall, on the other side of the bridge link, had differing lighting levels to that of the Melbourne Central mall. Through the implementation of dimmable lighting, ADP assisted with the ‘fine tuning’ of the control system to ensure that that the customers eyes don’t notice the transition.

ADP also incorporated additional power and drainage capacity to the spaces to enable pop-up retail and hospitality vendors to utilise the space more thoroughly.  Our team also assisted in increasing the thermal comfort of the space whilst successfully ensuring life safety compliance requirements were met after the inclusion of additional ceiling treatments and other finishes.

Through creative thinking and a collaborative approach to delivery, the bridge links successfully strengthen the Melbourne Central identity and offer engagement opportunities to customers and visitors to the spaces.
