Chadstone Shopping Centre in Melbourne, proudly known as The Fashion Capital of Australia, is now home to a brand-new entertainment and dining precinct called The Social Quarter. Premier dining retailers provide a relaxed yet sophisticated culinary and community-inspired experience – a vibrant, all-season destination designed to suit any occasion for locals and tourists alike.

The Social Quarter is the first development in Australia to achieve a Green Star Designed assessment with the new Green Star Buildings tool and is on track to receive a 5 Star Green Star Buildings rating. In addition, it incorporates a 199KW Solar Photovoltaic (PV) and includes a naturally ventilated common area and Wintergarden and biophilic design to allow customers a relaxed and comfortable social experience.

The development has been wrapped in an integrated urban artwork, designed by Melbourne based artist, Matthew Johnson, and is the second portion of a three-part art façade project at Chadstone. A powerful and prominent staircase creates a unique, fashionable sense of arrival. Beautiful, lush landscape cascades from above and softens the expansive dining precinct.

The Iconic Arrival proudly ascends from the sweeping landscape planters as a dominant gateway to The Social Quarter to form an impressive and welcoming entrance.  The towering, angled spires are purposefully illuminated to enhance the cathedral-inspired interior. Light sources are concealed responsibly within beams and architectural details to enable a delicate accentuation of architecture, structure, and materials.

Other projects the ADP team have been delivering across Chadstone Precinct include One Middle Road and the Market Pavilion, which are designed to achieve a 5 Star rating under the Green Star rating system. The sustainable design includes a new 450kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system and a naturally ventilated market hall. In Addition, Chadstone Place is anticipated to be Australia’s FIRST certified ILFI Zero Carbon Building, with an upgraded car park to feature more than 400 solar-shaded parking bays on the rooftop to generate 1.6MW of electricity.
