The University of Newcastle’s $67M Central Coast Campus located at 305 Mann Street Gosford in New South Wales represents a landmark investment in higher education and urban regeneration for the region, delivering a new, state-of-the-art teaching facility in the heart of Gosford’s CBD. With NSW State Significant Development contribution, delivered under a Design & Construct contract by Hansen Yuncken, the three‑storey campus supports contemporary learning, industry engagement and community connection while contributing to the long‑term revitalisation of the city centre.

ADP Consulting led the integrated building services engineering design delivering mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, fire protection, vertical transportation, ICT and audio‑visual systems across the campus. Working closely with the university, Lyons Architecture and the wider project team, ADP delivered coordinated, high-performance services solutions tailored to the flexibility demands of modern tertiary learning environments, including adaptable teaching spaces, innovation hubs, student commons, retail and community facing areas.

Sustainability was embedded at every stage of our design approach. The campus targets a 6‑Star Green Star rating, enabled by a fully electric building services strategy, high‑efficiency mechanical systems, demand‑driven ventilation, and smart building controls to optimise energy and water performance. These systems were carefully coordinated with the building’s pioneering mass‑timber structure, significantly reducing embodied and operational carbon while maintaining excellent indoor environmental quality for students and staff.

The University of Newcastle Central Coast Campus demonstrates how holistic building services engineering can unlock ambitious sustainability outcomes in complex education projects. Through early integration, rigorous performance modelling and a focus on long‑term adaptability, ADP Consulting has helped deliver a low‑carbon, high‑performance campus that will serve the Central Coast community for generations and stand as a model for future regional university developments.
