The Hervey Bay Library and Council Administration Centre is a significant infrastructure development set to revitalise Hervey Bay’s city centre.

This joint initiative, funded by the Hinkler Regional Deal, is a collaborative effort between the Albanese Government and Fraser Coast Regional Council to reinvigorate the Fraser Coast region. The new facility will serve as a comprehensive community hub, offering a diverse range of services including library facilities, social spaces, and council offices.

Designed by Cottee Parker, the new library will expand over two levels and include flexible community spaces that can be used day and night. A new public plaza will be created on Main Street, and a pedestrian link through the site will provide a new front door to the parklands in Pialba.  There will also be a new Council Administration Centre and Disaster Resilience Centre.

Construction officially commenced in 2024, with the project set to be completed in 2026.
