Located in at the centre of South Brisbane’s arts and cultural precinct, Upper House is set to be a highly sought-after residential development in the area.  Residents will have easy access to a host of amenities, including West End’s eclectic dining and entertainment hub, Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA), Queensland Museum, Queensland Art Gallery, Conservatorium of Music and Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre and emerging outdoor Fish Lane Arts Precinct.

Upper House will be the tallest building in South Brisbane at 32 storeys and will be home to 194 apartments. Its dramatic façade is inspired by nature, and the incorporation of timber ribbons, dancing balconies and specialist lights make Upper House a prominent addition to the South Brisbane skyline.

The development includes Australia’s first double-storey rooftop club, a Wellness Club offering a fully integrated approach to health, fitness, and general wellbeing plus 4 levels of basement carparking, a 4-storey podium at street level.

ADP were engaged as the Green Star Accredited Professional to ensure a formal 5 Star, Green Star rating would be achieved.  We also provided ongoing ESD design review, construction and post construction services collaborating with Aria, Minicon and their sub-contractors to curate an innovative pathway to this industry leading milestone.

Upper House is the first project for Aria to achieve a “Design Review Rating” which will achieve 5 Star “As Built” Rating.

The project achieved 8 Star NatHERS which is one of the highest ratings in Queensland of this type.

As well as achieving high sustainability targets, we helped to identify opportunities to make the building better, without increasing capital costs.

Our collaboration with all consultants, the head contractor and sub-contractors were key in educating them about the Green Star requirements for design and construction. We provided a pathway to achieve innovation credits including improving on Green Star benchmarks and innovation challenges such as financial transparency, high-performance site office, and global sustainability.

We are proud to have achieved the maximum energy points through Green Power and for 9 out of 10 credit points for transport.

Other services we provided include thermal comfort modelling, daylight and view analysis, climate adaptation modelling and plan, advice for sustainable construction practices, design review of lighting illuminance, review of GHG modelling, peak demand analysis and review of LCA documentation.
