Anticipated to be Australia’s first certified ILFI Zero Carbon building, Vicinity Centres is looking to the future placing people and the planet at the heart of Chadstone Place.
Chadstone Place has been transformed from the inside out. The refurbishment and expansion of the existing office building is now home to Officeworks Head Office and a new ‘innovation hub’ and outdoor terrace.
Designed by Bates Smart, the exciting development has created a series of new fresh-air indoor/outdoor work environments that allow for diversity, flexibility, and healthy environments for employees.
Vicinity Centres is looking to the future, placing people and the planet at the heart of the building, targeting ILFI Zero Carbon building certification, an Australian first.
The building has been re-energized through several sustainability initiatives, encapsulating embodied carbon, passive design, building operations and well-being, which the ADP team helped to deliver. Several base-building strategies include onsite renewables (solar), HVAC upgrades and full electrification of the building, lighting upgrades, mixed-mode ventilation, and the use of a high-performing façade.
Chadstone Place has achieved a 6 Star Green Star Design & As Built v1.3 Design Certification and 5.5 Star NABERS Base Building Energy Commitment Agreement.
Visible from the dedicated carpark and the pedestrian forecourt, a unique new link above the ground floor connects the car park to the building – Officeworks new front door.
This space, the new Innovation Hub, provides a welcoming, active and engaging space to host group gatherings, for example, wellbeing activities, team meetings, formal events and workshops or space for individuals to work or have a break. Deliberately designed to provide an alternative experience to the tower, there is an outdoor terrace with ample greenery, warm timber finishes and natural light.
Another exciting aspect of Chadstone Place will be the mixed-mode zone with opportunities for natural ventilation offering employees the opportunity to choose to work in an environment of fresh air and greenery. The floor plans have been designed to enable multiple models of working, so quiet and focus work zones coexist alongside flexible areas, where collaboration happens.
