As part of QIC’s vision for transforming Castle Towers’ shopping centre into a vibrant mixed-use hub, a proposed A-grade commercial tower with sustainability and well-being credentials will draw innovative businesses to Castle Hill, supported by new landscaped gathering spaces and hospitality venues.

The proposed project, which is pending final approvals, involves a new hybrid timber tower comprising ten levels of commercial office, ground and mezzanine retail space, a lower ground area for end-of-trip facilities and roof-mounted plant and equipment.

BVN’s design of 2 Castle Street is based on a framework of elements that defines a contemporary workplace that can accommodate flexible and changing workstyles within a sustainable future.

The wider development includes a hotel and future residential towers atop the retail podium; a heritage square that offers a unique mix of dining and retail spaces as well as an entertainment and leisure precinct. The development is connected to the train station via the recently completed underground NWRL pedestrian tunnel.

A significant engineering energy solution – a Central Thermal Plant, is a key design initiative for this site that was sized to allow for future expansion. The alternate uses of retail, hotel, and commercial on-site will utilise the diversity of occupancy and ensure that extra capacity is utilised in the most efficient way possible, all the while eliminating the need for additional plant per building, saving both space and cost.

2 Castle Street is targeting a 6 Star Green Star rating, A 6 Star NaBERs Energy Rating and a 5 Star NaBERs Water Rating
