Sitting atop Eastland Shopping Centre, this two-level commercial office building is home to Maroondah City Council chambers and offices.

The integrated fitout is a bright and expansive office space featuring internal stairs and an atrium space. The striking façade incorporates aluminium timber-look vertical fins over bronze glass. The prime location atop Eastland Shopping Centre provides staff with car parking, direct access to the retail centre and a public transport hub adjacent to the office, all in the heart of the Ringwood community.

Maroondah Council had a strong Green Star ambition and achieved a 5-Star Green Star rating and a base-building NABERS rating of 4.5 stars.

Sustainable aspects of the project include the only 6 Star WELS rating toilets on the market (and across the globe) that can operate with only 3 litres of water for full flush and 2 litres for half flush and can help reduce water consumption by up to 23%.

The project’s location over the operational retail centre and adjacent busy road meant a carefully coordinated approach and communication with relevant stakeholders was key to successful project delivery. ADP worked very closely with QIC, Maben and Maroondah City Council to ensure integration with the retail centre and requirements of Council were met.

Another complexity of the project included interfacing with existing infrastructure without disruption. To achieve this, ADP undertook a thorough investigation into services and ensured that trades and builders were aligned.

The resulting building is a striking addition to Eastland Shopping Centre and a bespoke new home for Maroondah City Council, with uninterrupted views of Mount Dandenong for its staff.
